Henry Heerup is remembered for his playful, imaginative expression rich in symbols, colours and innovative materials. ‘My Work is Play and I Like to Play All Day’, Heerup said about his own creative process. Play to him did not only mean children’s play, but rather ‘a free expression of something you have inside you, an expression of life’. Now, this exhibition focuses for the first time on all the playful strategies and key elements of Heerup’s art.
